Women's Cross Country: NAIA National Championships Recap

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Indiana University East women's cross country team capped off its season at the NAIA National Championships on Friday, Nov. 22.

Cassandra Schrubb led the Red Wolves during the 6K race on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course as she finished 58th out of 327 runners with a time of 22:16.8. Schrubb improved from 116th place a year ago, which was the top performance for IU East until this season.

IU East's other times were Chloe Scales (181st, 23:25.7), Emily Fleming (199th, 23:38.6), Samantha Fowler (246th, 24:10.2), Savanna Smith (251st, 24:16.0), Evelyn Hasenour (272nd, 24:46.8) and Makenzee Kahn (280th, 24:54.4).

As a team, the back-to-back River States Conference champion Red Wolves were 29th of 35 squads. Last fall, IU East was 32nd of 36 teams.

The Master's University from California edged top-ranked Taylor University 92-93 for the overall title. Jaynie Halterman of Taylor was the individual champ with a time of 20:24.7.
