Women's Cross Country: NAIA National Championships Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's cross country team is headed to Missouri for its second NAIA National Championships on Friday, Nov. 22.

The women's 6K race on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course starts at 12:30 p.m. (IU East time). The men's 8K opens the event hosted by Columbia College at 11:30 a.m.

IU East is coming off its second straight River States Conference title as Cassandra Schrubb won the individual championship in 22:11.3 back on Nov. 9.

FOLLOW THE MEET

The Gans Creek Cross Country Course is located in the Gans Creek Recreation Area with a GPS address of 3100 E Gans Rd, Columbia, MO 65201. Missouri is on Central Time.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* There are 36 teams in the field. Taylor University is the top ranked team in the nation.

* IU East was 32nd last season in the meet in Vancouver, Washington.

* Schrubb's performance at the conference meet led to her being named the RSC Runner of the Year. Chloe Scales, who finished seventh at 23:49.6, was also a member of the All-RSC First Team.

* Others earning all-conference honors were Emily Fleming (eighth, 23:49.6), Samantha Fowler (13th, 24:40.0) and Evelyn Hasenour (18th, 24:57.8). Fleming and Fowler were on the All-RSC Second Team, while Hasenour was All-RSC Third Team.
