
Women's Cross Country: Red Wolves Win RSC Championship
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's cross country team repeated its performance from a year ago as the Red Wolves won their second straight title at River States Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9.
With the victory, IU East earned the RSC automatic bid to the NAIA National Championships on the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, Nov. 22.
The Red Wolves had 47 points as Shawnee State University was second with 74 and the University of Rio Grande was third in the 11-team field with 80.
After finishing second in 2023, Cassandra Schrubb won the individual crown with a time of 22:11.3 in 6K race on the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course. As a result, she was named RSC Runner of the Year.
In addition to Schrubb, Chloe Scales (seventh, 23:49.6) made the All-RSC First Team. Emily Fleming (eighth, 23:49.6) and Samantha Fowler (13th, 24:40.0) were on the All-RSC Second Team, while Evelyn Hasenour (18th, 24:57.8) picked up a spot on the All-RSC Third Team.
Others competing for the Red Wolves were Savanna Smith (24th, 25:22.6), Makenzee Kahn (25th, 25:24.4), Kendra Shipman (29th26:03.1), Maddy Wolf (32nd, 26.33.8), Hannah Best (34th, 26:44.5), Eleanor Hasenour (46th, 27:57.6), Anna Johnston (49th, 28:04.4), Alexis Dean (55th, 28:54.8), Abby Gudeman (60th, 30:33.1).
Fowler was IU East's representative on the RSC Champions of Character Team. Cam Tiberg was named the RSC Coach of the Year.
