Women's Cross Country: RSC Championships Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's cross country team will have an opportunity to defend its title from 2023 as the Red Wolves compete in the River States Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The women's 6K on the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course in Evansville is scheduled to get underway at 11:30 a.m. (IU East time), which follows the men's 8K race that starts at 10:30 a.m. An awards program is set for 12:45 p.m.

IU East was picked for the top spot in the RSC Preseason Poll ahead of Shawnee State University, IU Kokomo and the University of Rio Grande, which all received first place votes in the balloting.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* The team champions receive the RSC automatic bid to the national meet, which will be at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, Nov. 22.

* Individual qualification to nationals will be earned by the top four individuals in each race not from a team qualifier. These individuals must finish among the Top 15 in the conference race.

* The top seven finishers will be All-RSC First Team with the runners in eighth through 14th will be All-RSC Second Team. The next seven will be All-RSC Third Team.

* Last fall, Cassandra Schrubb (second, 23:39.31) and Chloe Scales (fourth, 24:02.63) led the way for IU East as they earned a spot on the All-RSC First Team.

* Makenzee Kahn (12th, 24:50.92) was on the All-RSC Second Team for the Red Wolves as Evelyn Hasenour (16th, 25:38.09) was All-RSC Third Team.
