Volleyball: IU East vs. Rio Grande RSC Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East volleyball team will open the semifinal round of the River States Conference Championships at IU Kokomo on Friday, Nov. 15.

The Red Wolves will take on the University of Rio Grande in IU Kokomo's Student Activities and Events Center before the 11th ranked host Wildcats face St. Mary-of-the-Woods College at 7 p.m.

The winners will square off on Saturday for the RSC Championship.

IU Kokomo def. Midway 25-18, 25-22. 25-19

St. Mary-of-the-Woods def. Shawnee State 25-19, 25-17, 25-17

Rio Grande def. WVU Tech 23-25, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 18-16

IU East def. IU Southeast 25-16, 25-12, 25-17

Nov. 15 - Semifinals at IU Kokomo

No. 3 IU East (25-9) vs. No. 2 Rio Grande (28-8), 4 p.m.

No. 4 St. Mary-of-the-Woods (32-6) vs. No. 1 IU Kokomo (30-4), 7 p.m.

Nov. 16 - Finals at IU Kokomo

Winners meet at 2 p.m.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* IU East and Rio Grande split a pair of matches this season. The RedStorm won at home 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-16, 15-12, while IU East bounced back with a 25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18 victory on Lingle Court.

* IU Kokomo won both of its contests against St. Mary-of-the-Woods this season. The Wildcats posted a 25-21, 25-15, 25-22 victory on the road this month after winning 25-19, 21-25, 25-20, 25-15 at home in September.

* The leaders for the Red Wolves in the quarterfinal victory over IU Southeast were Jessica Swimm (12 kills), Aislyn Hogan (25 assists), Ella Bickel (12 digs) and Teah Barrett Matthews (five blocks).
