Volleyball: IU Southeast 3, IU East 2
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – In the battle of the IU’s, the Grenadiers came out victorious in the 5-set thriller Saturday against the Red Wolves (25-21, 25-18, 14-25, 18-25, 17-15).
The loss drops the Red Wolves to 19-9 overall and 8-3 in conference. IU Southeast improves to 9-17 and 7-7, respectively.
Jessica Swimm led the Red Wolves with 20 kills and Aubrey Miller had 18. Aislyn Hogan tallied a career-high 56 assists.
The Red Wolves fell into a 2-0 hole early on but were able to grab the next two to force the fifth set.
Trailing 14-13 in the fifth set, Miller was able to tally a kill off a pass from Ella Bickel. Teah Barrett-Matthews then had a kill to make it match-point.
But the Grenadiers scored the next three points to secure the win.
IU East will take on Alice Lloyd on Friday, Nov. 1 on Lingle Court. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
