Red Wolves Voted Third in RSC Preseason Poll

RICHMOND, Ind. – The River States Conference released their 2023 RSC Volleyball Coaches' Preseason Poll on Friday and the IU East Red Wolves came in at No. 3 with 135 points.

 

The Red Wolves grabbed a first-place vote, a year after they finished 26-6 overall and a 15-3 conference record. They fell to IU Kokomo in the RSC semifinal game.

 

IU Kokomo was named the top school with 152 votes and 10 first-place votes. Point Park finished with 142 votes and three first-place votes.

 

IU East will bring back all of their NAIA All-Americans. Reece Shirley earned NAIA All-American 3rd team and finished as the RSC Setter of the Year. Teah Barrett Matthews and Jessica Swimm were named Honorable Mention All-Americans.

 

The Red Wolves bring in five fresh faces. Summer Hendershot, Loretta Pelkington, Payton Schultheis, Tia Cooper, and Adayna Key will try to help IU East reach the NAIA Tournament in 2023.

 

The Red Wolves will open their season on Aug. 23 against Marian on Lingle Court at 7 p.m.
