Volleyball: IU East Wins Regular Season Finale
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East volleyball team finished the regular season with a 25-20, 25-18, 25-23 victory over Shawnee State University on Friday, Nov. 3.
With the win in the River States Conference match on Lingle Court, IU East is now 25-7 overall as the Red Wolves lead the RSC East with a 17-2 record. The Bears are 15-8 overall and 10-8 in the league.
Friday's first set was tied 10-10 before the Red Wolves took control with six straight points. The battle continued in the second set as the Red Wolves were able to hold off the Bears.
IU East led throughout the third set until the Bears rallied and eventually went on top 21-20. The Red Wolves were able to repond to take the set.
Jessica Swimm ended the match with her team-high 18th kill as the Red Wolves stay unbeaten at home with a 13-0 record.
Brooke Lepper added nine kills and Loretta Pelkington had eight kills. Lauren Uhte had a career-high 44 assists.
Ella Bickel topped the Red Wolves with 16 digs, while Lepper and Uhte each finished with 13.
Next up for IU East is the RSC Championships that get underway with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The Red Wolves will host their opener as the post-season pairings are expected to be announced after Saturday's action.
