RICHMOND, Ind. – Jessica Swimm and Brooke Lepper had 13 kills apiece as the IU East women's volleyball team defeated Ohio Christian 3-0 on Saturday in the River States Conference home-opener (25-22, 25-16, 25-19).

"I really liked the energy we brought tonight," head coach Kim McConaha said. "The last two conference games have set the tone we want going forward."

Ohio Christian held an 8-7 lead in the first set. Lepper tied the set 8-8 and the Red Wolves would take the lead for good in the first. Leading 24-19, the Trailblazers weren't going away as they scored the next three points. But a kill from Swimm gave the Red Wolves the Set 1 victory.

Ohio Christian led again early on in the second set. They rode a small 3-0 run to take a 4-2 lead. IU East then scored four straight points to lead 6-4. Again, after that run, the Red Wolves would set the tone and lead the rest of the set. They finished on a 6-0 run capped by blocks from Swimm and Teah Barrett Matthews

In the third set, the Red Wolves led from start to finish.

Reece Shirley led the Red Wolves with 33 assists. Lauren Uhte had four assists, all coming in the third set. Ella Bickel led with 17 digs.

IU East will be back in conference play on Tuesday as the Red Wolves travel to IU Kokomo.
