Track & Field: Tiffelberg Open Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams travel to Heidelberg University for the Tiffelburg Open on Saturday, March 30.

The pole vault and long jump at Hoernemann Stadium begin at 10 a.m., while the remaining field events are scheduled to get underway at Tiffin University. 

The 3,000-meter steeplechase is the first event on the track at noon.

* IU East's most recent meet was the Indiana Wesleyan University Polar Bear Invitational last weekend.

* India Benton was named the River States Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week as she was third in 200 meters at IWU with a time of 26.45 seconds.

* Benton also anchored the women's 400-meter relay team as she followed Kaleah Louden, Vanessa Temple, Brooke Sudhoff with a time of 53.62 seconds to finish third.

* Ty Williams was third in the men's shot put with a distance of 15.19 meters.

* Cassandra Schrubb set an IU East record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:58.42 to finish 10th.
