Indoor Track: Two IU East Athletes Hit National Standards
BOURBONNAIS, Ill. - A pair of Indiana University East indoor track and field athletes reached NAIA National qualifying standards on Friday, Jan. 24.
Cameron Nocton and Eleanor Hasenour posted school record times in the 3,000-Meter Racewalk at the Olivet Nazarene University Invitational inside the Perry Student Life Recreation Center.
Nocton had an NAIA "A" standard time of 13:22.38, which put him in third place. Nocton's previous top effort was 13:22.89 at the 2024 NAIA National Championships as he finished sixth to earn All-American status.
Hasenour surpassed the NAIA "B" standard with a time of 18:17.24 to finish second on the women's side of the event. Her old mark was 19:12.14 from last year's River States Conference Championships.
Also competing for the IU East men was Austin Wenta, who was seventh with a 17:30.64. Wenta was an outdoor national qualifier in the 5,000-Meter Racewalk last spring.
The NAIA "A" Standard for the men is 14:22.50, while the women's is 16:30.50. The "B" Standard for the men is 16:22.50 with the women needing an 18:35.50.
The River States Conference Indoor Championships are Feb. 14-15 in Marietta, Ohio. The NAIA National Championships are Feb. 27-March 1 in Gainesville, Fla.
