Women's Golf: RSC Fall Preview Day 2 Recap
FLORENCE, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team finished third in the River States Conference Fall Preview on Tuesday, Oct. 4.
Annie Gillock led IU East in the 36-hole event at the Belterra Resort as the Red Wolves had three players in the top 10.
"Today was another grind out there," Gillock said. "I started off pretty decent and did a very good job today of staying sharp with my mental game. I knew I was at the top of the leaderboard and tried to do my best to stay at the top. My ball striking was not the best and put me in some danger at times, but I did the best with what I had."
Gillock was fifth individually with an 80-82-162. Brooklynn Cromwell (85-87-172) and Liv Sanders (85-87-172) were tied for 10th overall.
Midway University won the team title (336-321-657) and the Eagles were followed by Brescia University (350-334). IU East finished with a 342-349-691.
"As a team, we fell short today and we all know where we need to work on things," Gillock said. "We obviously don't like where we ended up on the leaderboard, but that's where we will kick it in gear over the winter and be back for the spring."
Defending RSC Medalist Brandi Jones of IU Kokomo won event with a score of 82-76-158.
The other scores for IU East were Josalyn Lewis (94-93-187, 24th), Katie Craig (92-96-188, 28th) and Jalyn Bruns (96-96-189, 30th).
IU East finishes its fall schedule at the Tournament Players Club Deere Run Invitational in Silvis, Ill. The two-day event is Oct. 17-18.
