Women's Golf: Players Club Invitational Day 2 Recap

YORKTOWN, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's golf team completed the final round of the The Players Club Invitational at Woodland Trails on Saturday, Sept. 10.

The No. 27 Red Wolves ended in 12th place against several ranked squads as IU East recorded a 344-338-339-1021.

"We had a great experience this weekend against national competition on a great golf course," IU East coach Billy Mullin said. "I hope this weekend's experience proves to be a benchmark for future growth. This team has a lot of untapped potential at this point."

Brooklynn Cromwell topped the Red Wolves with an 81-86-79-246, while Annie Gillock was next with 87-86-83-256.

"Throughout the whole tournament I haven't been holding myself to much of an expectation since I've barely touched a club in the past three weeks," Gillock said. "Yesterday was a grind for 36 holes and this morning the pieces just started falling together. I started off great, executing a lot of up and downs. I think as the day went on everything just started catching up with me because 54 holes in two days is a lot for everyone so I'm extremely proud of my teammates and the freshman especially for grinding it out."

The other scores for IU East were Katie Craig (90-82-85-257), Jalyn Bruns (86-84-92-262) and Josalyn Lewis (92-88-94-274).

No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan University won the event with a 292-291-301-884.

Shayne Lim of host No. 16 Taylor University was the medalist 73-72-69-214 in the 54-hole event.

Next up for IU East is the Olivet Nazarene Tournament on Sept. 16-17. The event is at the Kankakee Elks Country Club in St. Anne, Ill.
