Women's Basketball: Midway 72, IU East 60

MIDWAY, Ky. - The Indiana University East women's basketball team finished the season with a 72-60 loss at Midway University on Saturday, Feb. 24.

IU East is now 10-18 overall and 5-13 in the River States Conference, while Midway is 12-16, 8-10. The Red Wolves have qualified for the RSC championships that get underway on Monday, Feb. 26. The pairings will be announced late Saturday night.

Taylor Farris topped the Red Wolves with 21 points in the contest inside Marshall Gymnasium.

Trinity Archey tossed in 11 points with six rebounds for IU East as Kennedy Griffin grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

In the first quarter, the Red Wolves worked to an 18-14 advantage when Farris drilled her third 3-pointer of the frame at the 2:45 mark. Midway answered with nine straight points to lead 23-18 at the end of the period.

The Eagles widened their margin to 33-22 with 6:18 left in the second quarter before IU East closed the gap to 42-38 at the intermission.

Farris scored at 5:18 in the third the Red Wolves trailed 49-45 before the Eagles answered to lead 61-54 heading into the final stanza.

Kenzie Hudgen scored early in the fourth period to cut IU East's deficit to 63-58, which was as close as the Red Wolves could get the rest of the way.
