Men's Cross Country: IU East Finishes Third in RSC Championships
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Shawnee State University defended its title as the Indiana University East men's cross country team finished third in the River States Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 9.
No. 19 Shawnee State finished with 43 points in the 11-team event, while the eighth-ranked University of Rio Grande had 47 and the No. 20 Red Wolves had 56.
Mylan Nocton led the Red Wolves as he was second as an individual with a time of 24:58.9 in the men's 8K race at the Angel Mounds Cross Country Course. In addition to his All-RSC First Team honor, he qualified for the NAIA National Championships at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, Nov. 22. It's still possible for the Red Wolves to make the national field as a team with an at-large bid, which will be announced on Monday, Nov. 11.
Cameron Nocton (sixth, 25:18.9) was also on the All-RSC First Team as well as the RSC Champions of Character Team, while Axton Fosnaugh (13th, 25:48.1) made the All-RSC Second Team. Teagan Rodriguez (17th, 26:03.2) and Richard Bower (18th, 26:12.6) were on the All-RSC Third Team.
Others running for the Red Wolves were Gabe Reynolds (25th, 26:59.9), Conner Walser (26th, 27:05.8), Wyatt Beck (29th, 27:16.6), DeAndre Hall (31st, 27:26.5), Denis Kale (34th, 27:49.4), Gavin Ashby (40th, 28:14.6), Akot Tong (44th, 28:26.3), Tucker Burris (59th, 29:13.2), Aiden Dispennette (70th, 29:52.0) and Dixon Minton (83rd, 31:05.9).
