
Cross Country: IU East Opens Season at IWU
MARION, Ind. - The Indiana University East cross country teams opened the season in the Wildcat Twilight Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University on Friday, Sept. 6.
The men's squad finished fourth, while the women were eighth out of 22 schools.
No. 8 Taylor took the men's title as No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan was second with No. 25 University of Rio Grande was third. No. 4 Taylor also won the women's event.
Mylan Nocton led the IU East as he was ninth with a time of 25:19.1.
Also in the top seven for IU East was Teagen Rodriguez 25:55.8 (31st), Conner Walser 26:19.6 (46th), Axton Fosnaugh 26:20.3 (47th), Richard Bower 26:24.9 (51st), Carter Walsman 26:37.6 (67th) and Cameron Nocton 26:44.4 (73rd).
On the women's side, Cassandra Schrubb topped the Red Wolves with a school record time of 23:21.8 to finish in 15th place.
Other top seven runners for the Red Wolves were Chloe Scales 24:38.9 (48th), Emily Fleming 25:08.4 (67th), Samantha Fowler 25:33.4 (90th), Makenzee Kahn 26:00.4 (110th), Evelyn Hasenour 26:29.7 (126th) and Savanna Smith 2:44.9 (132nd).
Next up for the Red Wolves is the Alumni Hokum Karem on the IU East Cross County Course on Friday, Sept. 13. The action starts at 7 p.m.
