Cross Country Competes in NAIA Championships

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NAIA National Championships on Friday.

 

The women's team finished 32nd out of 36, while Tucker Burris and Mylan Nocton competed as individuals. Nocton finished 109th out of 331 with a time of 26.21.5. Burris finished the 8K course in 198th with a time of 27:03.1. 

 

The Red Wolves finished with 834 points, two shy of 31st place. Cassandra Schrubb finished first for the Red Wolves in the 6K course. She ended the course in 23:45.1 and in 116th place. Makenzee Kahn was next with a time of 24:43.2 and in 224th place. Chloe Scales finished 13 seconds behind in 249th place. Evelyn Hasenour (25:31.2, 274th) and Brooklyn Miras (25:43.8, 282nd) finished the scoring for the Red Wolves.

 

Julia Arruda finished in 290th place in 26:01.6 and Sarah Kwiatkowksi rounded out IU East in 300th place with a time of 26:24.8.

 

The championship appearance was the first for the women's team in school history. The men competed in the championship last year, also the program's first, with both Burris and Mylan Nocton running in that race as well.
