Track & Field: Little State Preview

RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East track and field teams competing in the Little State Championships on April 19-20.

The two-day event is at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion and the meet features schools from multiple college divisions.

Friday's field events at the Wildcat Track are shot put, javelin and triple jump, which start at 4 p.m. The action on the track begins at 4:30 p.m. The races are the 3,200-meter relay and the 10,000-meter run.

On Saturday, all the remaining events get underway at 11 a.m.

Spectators can purchase tickets in advance here or at the gate.

YOU OUGHT TO KNOW

* This is IU East's last event for the Red Wolves before they take part in the River States Conference Championships hosted by Point Park University in Pittsburgh on April 25-26.

* IU East is coming off last week's performances at the Tiffin University Track Carnival and the Gordon Bocock Distance Carnival at the University of the Cumberlands.

* The Red Wolves had three individuals post NAIA national qualifying standards last weekend at Cumberlands. Cameron Nocton was fourth in the men's 5,000-meter race walk with an "A" Standard time of 23:03.06. Austin Wenta was sixth in the same race with a "B" Standard in 26:10.54. Mylan Nocton won the men's 10,000 meters with a "B" Standard of 31:13.94. Both marks by the Noctons were school records.

* Other new IU East records set last weekend were by Alexis Dean (women's 5,000-meter race walk, 33:45.73), Kyler Shultz (men's hammer, 52.56 meters) and the women's 800-meter relay team of Kaleah Louden, Brooke Sudhoff, Vanessa Temple and India Benton (1:55.05).
