Track & Field: Weekend Recap 1
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Indiana University East track and field teams had three national qualifiers as the Red Wolves began the weekend in two different states on Friday, April 12.
The Tiffin University Track Carnival had weather issues on Friday with some events incomplete. Look for results in the weekend's second recap.
Mylan Nocton led IU East in the Gordon Bocock Distance Carnival at the University of the Cumberlands as he won the men's 10,000 meters with a time of 31:13.94, which is a NAIA National Qualifying "B" Standard and a school record. Carter Walsman was fourth in the same race with a time of 34:23.56.
Cameron Nocton hit the NAIA "A" Standard in the in the men's 5,000-meter Race Walk with a fourth-place finish in an IU Record time of 23:03.06. Austin Wenta was sixth in the Race Walk as he reached the NAIA "B" Standard in 26:10.54.
In the women's 5,000-meter Race Walk, Alexis Dean set a school record with a 33:45.73 to finish sixth. Eleanor Hasenour was eighth at 34:26.63.
Cassandra Schrubb was also a winner for the Red Wolves in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase with time of 11:33.46. In the men's steeplechase, Dixon Minton was second with a 10:44.81.
Evelyn Hasenour ran the second fastest time in IU East history in the 10,000 meters with a 41:21.55 to finish third. She was followed by Julia Arruda's sixth-place finish in 43:28.43, which is the third best time for the Red Wolves.
Teagen Rodriguez ran the men's 1,500 meters 4:06.05 to finish in third. Caden Shumaker was fifth in the race with 4:22.04. Abby Page was sixth in the women's 1,500 meters at 5:30.28.
The men's 3,200-meter relay squad of DeAndre Hall, Denis Kale, Anthony Laux and AJ Ludwig was second in 8:36.31.
Both meets are scheduled to be completed on Saturday.
