Track & Field: Gibson Invitational Day 1 Recap

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Three athletes from the Indiana University East track and field program opened the weekend that has team members competing in two states.

Rex Kirchenstien, Caleb Carter and Vanessa Temple were in action during the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State University on April 13.

Kirchenstien (3,166 points) and Carter (2,693) took part in the Men's Decathlon, while Temple (1,724) is in the Heptathlon competition.

Although this meet is over three days, the Red Wolves are only taking part in the first two.

The Decathlon and Heptathlon will finish on Friday, April 14. Those events start at 9:30 a.m.

IU East will also have participants in the Hammer and Javelin on the second day beginning at 1 p.m.

The IU East distance runners will be at the Tiffin University Track Carnival on Friday, while most of the team travels to the Cherry Blossom Invitational at Ohio University on Saturday, April 15.
