Red Wolves Post Comeback Victory
CENTERVILLE, Ind. - A pair of late goals made the difference for the Indiana University East men's soccer team as the Red Wolves posted a 2-1 victory over Concordia University at Centerville High School on Saturday, Sept. 7.
With their second straight win, the Red Wolves are 3-1. Concordia is 3-3.
"In a tale of two halves, I'm glad we came out the victor," IU East coach Dalton Clement said. "This is a rallied Concordia team, Jason (Clare) has his team really together and fighting for 90 minutes."
Concordia scored in the first half and led most of the contest until IU East's Marco Cruz tied the match at the 77:20 mark with an assist from Bawi Ting.
"I'm happy we were able to control a bit more possession and momentum in the second half to come through," Clement said.
A short time later, the Red Wolves were celebrating with Cruz scoring again at 82:28 as Tristan Thomas was credited with an assist.
"A big congratulations to Marco Cruz for getting not only his first goal, but two and a game winner," Clement said. "We'll enjoy this one and then look forward to our next training on Monday."
IU East goalkeeper Peter Lamprou had two saves in the first half before Elijah Williamson took over in the second frame as the Red Wolves didn't allow a shot on goal.
Next up for the Red Wolves is a trip to Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The non-conference affair gets underway at 7 p.m.
