CENTERVILLE, Ind. - A barrage of goals late in the first half propelled the Indiana University East men's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Great Lake Christian College on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
"Really good to end up on the winning side of the scoreline tonight," IU East coach Steve Moore said. "Definitely felt better this way in the moment. I'm hopeful it leads to some momentum for us."
Callum Coleman got things started for the Red Wolves at the 38:44 mark with an assist from Biak Peng.
Moments later at 39:28, Hoi Lian booted a penalty kick past Great Lakes goalie Tucker Brown.
Coleman capped the rally with his second goal of the affair at Centerville High School with 40:19 on the clock.
IU East set the tone in the second half with the final score of the match at 49:49 when Kep Ceu found the back of the net with an assist from Tristan Thomas.
"We've been talking about starting strong and not just being a reactive team," Moore said. "It was really encouraging to see us be the aggressors and in control the entire game."
Goalkeeper Peter Lamprou saw eight shots in his first start of the season for the Red Wolves, but none of them required a save.
The Red Wolves (1-6) are back in action on Saturday at the University of Cincinnati-Clermont. The contest at Northern Kentucky University starts at 2 p.m.
