Men's Basketball: IU East 91, Cheyney 74

TAKOMA PARK, Md. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team defeated Cheyney University 91-74 in the Washington Adventist Classic on Sunday, Nov. 17.

With the win in the Student Activity Center & Gymnasium, IU East is now 4-1. Cheyney is 2-6.

The contest was tight early as IU East led 11-10 at the 14:05 mark of the first half. The Red Wolves were able to take control of the affair with an 18-4 run that was capped by a 3-pointer by Tobey Billups with 9:59 left to play. IU East finished the opening period with a 49-35 advantage.

In the second half, Cheyney cut its deficit to 74-64 with 6:22 remaining, but the Red Wolves regained command on the way to the victory. 

Jake Johnson scored 23 points to lead the Red Wolves, who had five players in double figures.

Billips finished with 14 points, five assists and four steals. Antuane Allen also scored 14 points as he grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Trent Johnson and Caleb Maurer both added 12 points.

The Red Wolves return to action at the 10th annual NAIA Classic "THE SHOW" in Kingsport, Tennessee. IU East's first contest in the event at the MeadowView Resort will be against Freed-Hardeman University on Saturday, Nov. 30.
