Men's Basketball: IU East 89, Michigan-Dearborn 71
RICHMOND, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team won its third straight game as the Red Wolves defeated the University of Michigan-Dearborn 89-71 on Monday, Nov. 11.
With the victory on Lingle Court, IU East is 3-0 for the first time since 2017-18 when the Red Wolves won five in a row to begin that season.
The Red Wolves led the entire time in the non-conference affair with the Wolverines (1-3), but it was close in the opening half as IU East was on top 27-25 with 6:15 remaining in the frame.
At that point, the Red Wolves gradually pulled away to go into the intermission with a 44-31 advantage.
In the second period, IU East maintained its distance as the Wolverines could only get as close as 49-40 at the 17:27 mark.
Jake Johnson led the Red Wolves with 29 points and 13 rebounds to go with five assists. Also in double figures for IU East were Antuane Allen with 18 points and Caleb Maurer adding 10.
Next on the scoring list for the Red Wolves were Tarrell Jewell with eight points and nine rebounds, Jameer Ajibade with seven points and eight rebounds and Tobey Billups adding seven points with a team-high eight assists.
IU East returns to the road with a trip to Maryland as the Red Wolves face the host school in the Washington Adventist Classic on Saturday, Nov. 16. The contest in Takoma Park gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
