RICHMOND, Ind. – Colt Meyer scored 19 points and Antuane Allen scored 18 off the bench as the IU East men's basketball team defeated Grace Christian 77-68 for their first win of the season.
The win improves the Red Wolves record to 1-1. Jake Johnson was also in double figures with 13. Ibra Athie dominated the boards with 12 rebounds. He chipped in eight points with six assists.
Both teams traded leads early. Jake Johnson converted on one of his two free throws for a 10-9 lead that sparked a 10-4 run. Antuane Allen's layup gave the Red Wolves a 20-13 lead with 9:48 remaining in the first. Leading 33-32 with 1:56 left, the Red Wolves scored the last seven points of the half to head into the break up 40-32. Tavian Tatum and Devon Woods made layups in back-to-back possessions to end the first half.
The Red Wolves led the rest of the way and held a sizeable lead for the majority of the second. The closest the Tigers came was six points with 51 seconds remaining.
IU East will have a week off before heading to Goshen on Sat, Nov. 11. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
