Men's Basketball: Indiana Wesleyan 98, IU East 83

MARION, Ind. - The Indiana University East men's basketball squad dropped a 98-83 decision at No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Dec. 9.

IU East is now 3-6 overall, while Indiana Wesleyan is 8-2 with three wins in a row.

Devon Woods led the Red Wolves with 21 points, which matches his season-high total that he had against Ave Maria University on Nov. 26.

Ibra Athie was next for IU East with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Chad Cox also finished in double figures with 11 points followed by Colt Meyer and Jake Johnson, who tossed in 10 points apiece.

Griffin Kliewer topped the Wildcats with 20 points, while teammate Caedmon Bontrager recorded a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

The contest in Luckey Arena was tight early, but the Wildcats built a 49-37 advantage by halftime.

In the second period, IU East was able to cut its deficit to nine twice with the last time coming on a basket by Antuane Allen that made it 65-56 at the 12:59 mark.    

Next up for the Red Wolves is River States Conference foe Oakland City University at home on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The contest on Lingle Court is scheduled for 3 p.m.
