Men's Basketball: Ave Maria 112, IU East 102

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Indiana University East men's basketball team finished "The Show" with a 112-102 loss to Ave Maria University on Sunday, Nov. 26.

IU East is now 2-4 overall with an all-time record of 8-6 at the annual event in the MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center. Ave Maria is 8-0.

Colt Meyer led IU East with 24 points as the Red Wolves had five players in double figures. Devon Woods tossed in 21 points as Jake Johnson added 19, while Ibra Athie had 12 points and Tobey Billups finished with 11.

Antuane Allen contributed eight points for the Red Wolves with a team-high seven rebounds.

A fast start by the Red Wolves had IU East leading 13-5 when Chad Cox scored at the 16:18 mark of the first half. Ava Maria battled back to tie the affair at 29-29 with 5:46 left before building a 47-40 advantage by the intermission.

In the second half, IU East climbed back into the contest as Johnson scored to tie it at 64-64 with 14:31 remaining.

With a 14-5 run, Ave Maria went on top 78-69 with 10:38 left. The Red Wolves answered with eight straight points capped by a 3-pointer by Allen, which made it 78-77 at the 9:46 mark. Unfortunately for the Red Wolves, they couldn't get any closer.

Next up for the Red Wolves is their River States Conference opener at home against IU Kokomo on Wednesday, Nov. 29. The contest on Lingle Court gets underway at 6 p.m.
