IU East Wins Fourth in a Row

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana University East women's volleyball team picked up a pair pf victories in the Onset Invitational on Friday, Aug. 23.

The Red Wolves opened the event in the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum with a 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 win over Lawrence Tech University before defeating Indiana Tech 25-22, 25-13, 25-23.

With their fourth straight win, the Red Wolves are now 5-1. Lawrence Tech was 1-2 after the contest and Indiana Tech is 0-6.

In the Lawrence Tech match, Jessica Swimm led the way for IU East with 14 kills as Reece Shirley posted a stat line of 10 kills, 24 assists and 10 digs. Tia Cooper added 10 kills, while Ella Bickel finished with 24 digs and Aislyn Hogan added 20 assists. Teah Barrett Matthews had eight blocks.

Against Indiana Tech, Swimm recorded 14 more kills to top the Red Wolves. Shirley finished with 21 assists as Hogan added 10 assists and a team-high 13 digs. Amyra Lockett had seven blocks, while Bickel had 12 digs.

On Saturday, the Red Wolves take on Xavier University of Louisiana at 9 a.m. IU East finishes the event against Marian University at 3:30 p.m.
