Red Wolves Defeated in Both Games of Labor Day Classic

NORTH SIOUX, S.D – The IU East women's volleyball team fell both games in the first day of the United Sports Academy Labor Day Classic on Friday.

 

The Red Wolves lost to the defending champions, Jamestown, 3-0 before falling 3-1 to Kansas Wesleyan.

 

In the loss against Jamestown, the Red Wolves battled each set. They scored 21, 19, and 18 points in the sets. Teah Barrett Matthews led the team with 10 kills. Reece Shirley had 26 assists and Ella Bickel had 10 digs.

 

Barrett Matthews led Game 2 in kills for the Red Wolves with 16. After falling in the first set, IUE rolled out to a 7-1 lead. Shirley had back-to-back blocks and Barrett Matthews/Carli Cox tag-teamed for another block for the 5th, 6th, and 7th points. The Red Wolves led from start to finish in the set.

 

IUE will play Rocky Mountain and Morningside tomorrow to finish the road trip.
