LIMA, Ohio – Taylor Farris scored 27 points off the bench and Alli Vaughn scored 14 points with 11 rebounds as the IU East women's basketball team defeated UNOH 76-70 for their second win in a row Saturday.
The win improves their record to 2-1 on the season. Kennedy Griffin scored 19 points with five rebounds. The Red Wolves shot 47.5 percent from the floor.
The Red Wolves were unable to score in the early going in the first quarter. Farris got IU East on the board with a triple with 6:47 to go in the quarter to cut the deficit to 5-3. Trailing 10-3 with two minutes left in the first, the Red Wolves scored seven points in a span of a minute and a half to tie the game 10-10. The Racers added a jumper with seven seconds left to take a 12-10 lead after one.
Griffin gave the Red Wolves their first lead of the game with 6:28 left in the first half. Peyton Wells added a layup with 34 seconds left in the half to break a 24-24 tie.
Trailing 30-28 in the third, IU East went on a 12-3 run to take a 7-point lead. The Red Wolves would lead the rest of the game.
The Red Wolves will travel to Huntington University to play Goshen on Friday then the Foresters on Saturday.
