Bio

The IU East athletic department has named Bruno Amorim da Silva as the first head coach in men’s volleyball program history on Monday, April 1 2024.

 

“I like the challenge of starting a brand-new program,” Amorim da Silva said. “I wanted to start a new chapter for my personal career with the transition from full-time player, to a full-time coach.

The Sao Paulo, Brazil native has built his life around volleyball. His playing career began at 16 years old when he joined the Brazilian super league. From there he went on to play in 14 different professional leagues internationally, spanning across Europe, Asia, South America, Central America, Middle East and Africa. Bruno is currently playing in the AVP Professional Beach Volleyball Tour.

Bruno has also coached in different levels such as International, College, High School, Club and Beach Volleyball.

 

From 2012-2015, he was a club coach for the Infinity Athletics Volleyball Club. In 2015, he was a part of the Arabict Club 23U coaching staff. From 2016-18, Bruno was a volunteer assistant coach at Earlham College. After his stint at Earlham, he coached at Centerville High School in Richmond from 2018-22.

He was also the head coach for P1 Beach Volleyball Club from 2020-2023 and the head coach for Rev Volleyball Club 18s1 from 2022-24.

 

“I am looking forward to get on the court and share most of the things I have learned throughout the years as a player,” Amorim da Silva said. “Also to mentor these young athletes on and off the court. The goals is always inspire to make a difference.”
